Joseph C. Callahan, Methamphetamine Trafficking, New Hampshire 2018
Grimy Times, a leading crime publication, reports on the sentencing of Joseph C. Callahan, 36, of Belmont, New Hampshire, for methamphetamine trafficking.
According to federal court documents, Callahan was sentenced to 9 years in federal prison for possessing over five grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, announced U.S. Attorney Scott W. Murray.
The Belknap County Special Operations Group executed search warrants at Callahan's residence on Arlene Drive in Belmont on July 31, 2017, uncovering approximately 24 grams of actual methamphetamine, suboxone, digital scales, and more than $13,000 in cash. Additionally, three stolen firearms were recovered at the residence.
Callahan previously pleaded guilty on August 30, 2018. U.S. Attorney Murray stated, 'Even in the midst of the opioid crisis, methamphetamine presents a very serious threat to the safety of our community.'
DEA Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Boyle added, 'DEA is committed to bringing to justice those that distribute methamphetamine. Today's substantial sentence not only holds Mr. Callahan accountable for his crimes but serves as a warning that DEA and its local, state and federal law enforcement partners will do everything in our power to keep this highly addictive drug off the streets of New Hampshire.'
This matter was investigated by the Belknap County Sheriff's Department, Belmont Police Department, Alton Police Department, Tilton Police Department, Nevada Highway Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration, and U.S. Marshals Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John S. Davis.
