A Duryea man has been sentenced to 35 months in prison for his role in distributing cocaine in Luzerne County.

According to the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Joseph Crawford, 34, transported cocaine from New York City to Luzerne County and distributed it on numerous occasions between 2011 and May 1, 2012.

Crawford was sentenced by Senior United States District Court Judge Edwin M. Kosik, who also ordered him to serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.

The investigation into Crawford's activities was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.

Assistant United States Attorney John Gurganus prosecuted the case against Crawford.

Crawford's 35-month prison term is a result of his guilty plea to charges related to cocaine distribution. The investigation into his activities was a multi-agency effort, with contributions from multiple law enforcement agencies.

The case against Crawford serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against cocaine trafficking in the region. Law enforcement agencies will continue to work together to disrupt and dismantle these organizations, bringing those responsible to justice.
