Local Man Accused of Creating Child Pornography

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Kansas, with a Missouri man facing serious charges. Joshua David Kolb, 43, of Independence, Missouri, has been indicted for his alleged role in creating child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

According to court documents, Kolb allegedly directed a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct to create visual depictions. He is also accused of traveling from Missouri to Kansas on multiple occasions for the purpose of having sex with a minor.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Audrey McCormick prosecuting the matter. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Kolb faces one count of production of child pornography, one count of coercion and enticement of a minor, two counts of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, and one count of interstate communications with a threat to injure.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Kolb's case is a stark reminder of the importance of protecting our children from exploitation and abuse. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit https://www.justice.gov/psc.
