Buckfield Man Sentenced to Over 8 Years for Cocaine Trafficking Offense
Portland, Maine: A Buckfield man was sentenced to over 8 years in prison for cocaine trafficking after a high-speed police pursuit ended in a crash.
On January 2, 2019, Joshua Morin, 33, was driving a car when he crashed and fled on foot. Police apprehended him and recovered 1.6 kilograms, or about 3.5 pounds, of cocaine from his person and the car.
The cocaine was being distributed in ounce and half-ounce quantities, according to court records. The police also recovered $20,000 cash at the scene of the crash.
U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Morin to 100 months in prison and three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty on June 24, 2019.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police, the Lewiston Police Department, and the FBI investigated the case.
