Kansas City Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking

A Kansas City man has been sentenced to 216 months in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking organization that operated in the Kansas City metro area.

On Monday, Juan Carlos Chirinos, 30, of Independence, Missouri, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kansas, for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy.

Chirinos pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, admitting that in 2009 he and his co-defendants sold methamphetamine to agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who were working undercover.

According to investigators, Chirinos and other conspirators sold methamphetamine to ATF agents on the following dates: May 27, June 25, July 2, July 16, July 28, September 17, and October 15, 2009.

Co-defendants in the case include Susan Friend, who was sentenced to 144 months, Xavier Garza, who received a 75-month sentence, and Russell Loomis, who was sentenced to 72 months.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Trent Krug for their work on the case.
