Juan Isom, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, West Virginia 2019
Huntington, West Virginia - A local man has plead guilty to a serious crime. Juan Isom, 55, has been found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm in the Huntington area.
According to authorities, Isom's conviction stems from a search warrant executed by the West Virginia State Police Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West on July 13, 2018, at his residence. During the search, officers located a Taurus .38 caliber revolver on the shelf of Isom's nightstand. This discovery led to his indictment for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Isom's guilty plea is a result of his 2006 felony drug conviction in Gaston County, North Carolina. Due to this conviction, Isom is prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal law.
Isom is facing up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on August 5, 2019. The Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West conducted the investigation, and United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the plea hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie S. Taylor handled the prosecution.
