Juan Luis Ortiz Jimenez, Immigration Fraud, New York 2023
A 32-year-old Guatemalan man has been sentenced to time served for possessing a fraudulent green card, according to authorities in Albany, New York.
Juan Luis Ortiz Jimenez was arrested on December 28, 2017, for being unlawfully present in the United States, and ICE Officers found him in possession of a counterfeit permanent residency card.
As part of his guilty plea, Ortiz Jimenez admitted to possessing the counterfeit green card in Colonie, New York, on the date of his arrest.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and Thomas E. Feeley, Director of the Buffalo Field Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
This case was investigated by ICE-ERO and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward P. Grogan.
Following his sentencing, Ortiz Jimenez was remanded to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security, for removal proceedings.
The exact sentence handed down by the court is 74 days in jail, time served.
