Convicted Cocaine Dealer Sentenced to 3+ Years in Prison

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Juan Morales, a 49-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for his role in cocaine dealing and illegal reentry into the United States.

Morales' lengthy criminal history includes two previous federal convictions for illegal reentry, as well as two convictions in Indiana and Illinois for dealing cocaine and methamphetamine. His most recent conviction was for operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license, which led to an investigation revealing his prior removals from the United States.

On November 6, 2024, Morales was convicted of operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license. An investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed that Morales had been removed from the United States on two separate occasions in 2007 and 2018.

While in the United States unlawfully for a third time, Morales continued to break the law, demonstrating a fundamental lack of respect for the country. His sentence of 37 months in federal prison is a result of his repeated disregard for U.S. laws and his continued involvement in criminal activity.

Acting U.S. Attorney John E. Childress expressed his commitment to working with ICE and other law enforcement partners to ensure that defendants like Morales cannot continue to pose a danger to communities. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
