Bedford Man Pleads Guilty to Kidnapping Charge in Massachusetts

A shocking case of kidnapping has unfolded in the state of Massachusetts, leaving residents concerned about their safety. On February 3, 2019, a resident of Concord was forcibly taken from their home by Julian Field, a 24-year-old from Bedford. The victim was forced to drive Field to a train station in Connecticut, with a brief stop in Springfield to attempt to procure illegal drugs.

The investigation, led by the FBI's Boston Field Division, Concord Police, and Bedford Police, tracked Field to Key West, Florida, where he was arrested in February 2019. Field has since been brought back to Massachusetts to face the charges against him.

On January 11, 2020, Julian Field pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping before U.S. Senior District Court Judge Douglas P. Woodlock. The sentencing is set for March 3, 2020. The charge of kidnapping carries a sentence of up to life in prison, up to five years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anne Paruti with Lelling's Criminal Division. United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling, Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Field Division, Concord Police Chief Joseph O'Connor, and Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno made the announcement today.

Field's actions have sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many to wonder how such a heinous crime could occur. The kidnapping charge against Field is a serious one, and the consequences of his actions could be severe.
