Justin Boccio, Torture and Kidnapping, Florida 2024
Deerfield Beach, Florida man Justin Boccio, 33, has been sentenced to over 11 years in prison for his involvement in a torture and kidnapping plot.
On January 14, 2019, Boccio and co-defendant Serge Nkorina intercepted the victim in a Walmart parking lot in Broward County, Florida. They blindfolded the victim and forced him into a rental van, transporting him to a storage facility in Margate, Florida, where they burned his hands with a blowtorch while threatening to kill him with a firearm and other weapons.
The kidnappers demanded information about the victim's home address, including access codes to his residence. On January 15, 2019, Nkorina visited the premises of the victim's home while carrying a firearm. The victim was eventually left, with his hands and feet bound, in his vehicle, which was relocated to the parking lot of Cheetah Gentlemen's Club in Broward County, Florida.
Boccio previously pled guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and kidnapping. U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga sentenced Boccio to a concurrent term of 135 months in prison, on each count of conviction, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release.
Boccio was also ordered to pay the victim $83,056.80 in restitution. Nkorina has not yet made his appearance in the South Florida case and is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
U.S. Attorney Ariana Fajardo Orshan commended the investigative efforts of the FBI's Miami Field Office in this matter, thanking the Hallandale Beach Police Department for their assistance. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa H. Miller in the Southern District of Florida.
