Justin Goulet, Drug and Gun Crimes, Vermont 2010
Crime Spikes in Vermont Amidst Opioid Crisis
A shocking revelation has emerged in the midst of the opioid crisis in Vermont. Justin Goulet, a resident of Vermont, has been convicted of federal drug and gun crimes. His case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of addiction.
Goulet's crimes date back to 2010, a year marked by rising opioid abuse in Vermont. His case highlights the urgent need for effective prevention and treatment programs in the state. The U.S. Attorney's Office has taken a proactive approach to addressing this issue by launching a drug prevention initiative.
The initiative, which was unveiled at Turning Point in Burlington, Vermont, features a documentary film and public service announcement (PSA) that tells Goulet's remarkable story of recovery. The documentary, titled Face of Recovery, showcases Goulet's journey from addiction to sobriety. The PSA, also part of the initiative, emphasizes the importance of solidarity and collaboration among Vermont's enforcement, prevention, treatment, and recovery communities.
U.S. Attorney Christina E. Nolan described the initiative and played the accompanying PSA and documentary film at the launch event. The documentary and PSA were created in collaboration with Film Production Director Jeremy Leibovitch and Graham Raubvogel of Prom Creative. The U.S. Attorney's Office plans to present Face of Recovery to audiences across Vermont, including young people and community and recovery centers.
The presentations will be interactive, with attendance by Goulet and U.S. Attorney Nolan, as well as time for conversation and questions and answers. The first public viewing and interactive presentation will occur on July 19 at Turning Point in Burlington, Vermont.
The U.S. Attorney's Office has expressed gratitude to Goulet, Leibovitch, Raubvogel, and Turning Point for their essential contributions to the project. Those interested in scheduling a presentation and showing can contact Aimee Stearns, Victim Witness Coordinator, or Kraig LaPorte, Public Information Officer, at the U.S. Attorney's Office at (802) 951-6725.
