Feds Sentence Virginia Man to 30 Months in Prison for Heroin Trafficking

A Richmond, Virginia man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation in West Virginia.

Justin M. Kent, 32, was caught by members of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force during a traffic stop on August 14, 2012. Officers discovered that Kent was in possession of 10 individually wrapped packets of heroin.

Further investigation revealed that Kent had sold heroin to a confidential informant on two separate occasions in May and June 2012.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin announced the sentencing, which was imposed by Chief United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers.

The case was investigated by the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg McVey leading the prosecution.

Kent pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin in October 2014. His sentence includes 30 months in federal prison.

The sentencing concludes a case that began with Kent's arrest in 2012. His conviction serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat heroin trafficking in the region.
