Methamphetamine Charges Rock Moundsville Community

A West Virginia resident has been accused of peddling methamphetamine in Marshall County, sparking a federal investigation that could see him behind bars for up to 20 years.

Justin R. Beaver, a 26-year-old from Moundsville, West Virginia, was arraigned on April 2, 2019, on four counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine after a federal grand jury indicted him in Wheeling.

The alleged offenses occurred in November 2018, with Beaver accused of distributing the illicit substance in Marshall County.

Beaver's indictment carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count. The actual sentence will be determined by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account the severity of the offenses and any prior criminal history the defendant may have.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr., is leading the prosecution, with the Marshall County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, conducting the investigation.

In connection with the case, U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone presided over the arraignment proceedings.

It is worth noting that an indictment is merely an accusation, and Beaver is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
