Justin Vancott-Harnish, Trafficking a Minor, Florida 2025

Published March 19, 2026

A 29-year-old St. Cloud man has been charged with a heinous crime that will send shockwaves through the community. Justin Vancott-Harnish, a resident of St. Cloud, has been indicted for trafficking a minor while stationed at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica.

According to the indictment, Vancott-Harnish solicited a minor victim to engage in a commercial sex act between February 28 and March 28, 2025. This despicable act occurred while he was a U.S. Antarctic Program subcontract employee, taking advantage of his position to exploit a vulnerable individual.

As a result of his alleged actions, Vancott-Harnish faces a minimum sentence of 15 years, up to life, in federal prison. The gravity of this situation cannot be overstated, and the public demands justice for the victim.

U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement, emphasizing the importance of this case. An indictment is merely a formal charge, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the U.S. National Science Foundation - Office of Inspector General, Homeland Security Investigations, and the St. Cloud Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Kaley Austin-Aronson will prosecute the case, with the support of Department of Justice Trial Attorney McKenzie Hightower of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.

The people of Florida demand justice for the victim and will not tolerate such heinous crimes. Justin Vancott-Harnish's alleged actions are a betrayal of the trust placed in him as a U.S. Antarctic Program subcontract employee. We will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
