West Seneca Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Child Pornography

BUFFALO, N.Y.- A 27-year-old West Seneca man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing child pornography involving a prepubescent minor.

According to the U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., Justin Wheeler was previously convicted of sexually abusing a child in 2013. He was on parole when New York State Parole conducted a search of his bedroom on October 31, 2017, and seized a Samsung cellular telephone. A search warrant was executed on the phone and it was found to contain 90 images and 269 videos of child pornography, including prepubescent minors and depictions of violence.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan A. Tokash handled the case.

The defendant, Justin Wheeler, was sentenced to 121 months in prison and lifetime supervised release by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.

The case is a reminder of the serious consequences of possessing child pornography and the importance of protecting our children from exploitation.
