Kajuan Woods, Possession of Contraband, Pennsylvania 2026

SCRANTON, Pa. - A shocking discovery was made at the Federal Correction Institution Schuylkill (FCI Schuylkill) in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, when federal authorities announced the indictment of Kajuan Woods, age 37, a federal inmate.

According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, the indictment alleges that on or about March 15, 2026, while an inmate at FCI Schuylkill, Woods possessed an inmate-manufactured weapon, specifically a four-inch piece of metal sharpened to a point with a cloth handle, commonly referred to as a 'shank.'

The indictment charges Woods with possessing contraband in prison, a serious offense that could result in severe penalties. Assistant United States Attorney Tatum R. Wilson is prosecuting the case.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Investigative Service investigated the case.

The maximum penalty under federal law for this case is five years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. A sentence following the finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
