Kambiz Attar Kashani, Violating U.S. Sanctions, Alabama 2024

Kambiz Attar Kashani, a dual U.S.-Iranian national and CEO of an Iran-based technology company, was arrested on May 31, 2024 on a federal criminal complaint charging him with violating U.S. sanctions against Iran.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Kashani is accused of acquiring sophisticated U.S.-origin networking, security, and encryption equipment for Iranian customers, including the Iranian regime's nuclear and military establishment.

The complaint alleges that Kashani knowingly and willfully violated U.S. sanctions by acquiring and attempting to acquire U.S.-origin items for export to Iran, in violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and the Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations (ITSR).
