In a shocking case of contraband introduction, 32-year-old Kanyhi Roberson, a resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, was recently sentenced to four months of imprisonment by Chief United States District Judge Matthew W. Brann. The incident occurred in August 2022, during a visit to the Federal Correctional Complex – Allenwood in Pennsylvania.

According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Roberson was visiting an acquaintance when she prepared a food item for the inmate. However, in a suspicious move, she passed it to the inmate along with several napkins, which he then placed against his face. Corrections officers immediately detected this behavior and conducted a search, leading to the discovery of 75 strips of Suboxone, a Schedule III narcotic, in the inmate's cheek.

Roberson had previously pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2025, marking a significant step towards her sentencing.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur serving as the prosecuting attorney.
