Karl Eugene Leslie, Sexual Abuse, Arizona 2025

Karl Eugene Leslie, a 42-year-old White Mountain Apache Tribal Police officer, has been charged with 15 counts of sexual abuse and kidnapping in a federal indictment.

The indictment alleges that Leslie, who was an active law enforcement officer from April 2007 through June 2024, sexually abused three victims while on duty on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.

The victims, all members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, were allegedly abused between December 1, 2020, and September 25, 2023. Two of the victims were forcibly raped and kidnapped, including one minor, while the third victim was threatened and placed in fear.

Leslie, who was arrested on December 23, 2025, in Canyon Day, faces charges of Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Kidnapping, Sexual Abuse through Fear, Sexual Abuse through Coercion, and Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law. Each of these charges carries a maximum sentence of up to life imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.

The case against Leslie was investigated by the FBI’s Phoenix Field Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dimitra H. Sampson and Lindsay L. Short handling the prosecution.

Leslie is currently being held and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years for the Kidnapping-Victim Under 18 charge.

An indictment is a formal accusation of criminal conduct, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
