Kathryn A. Foltz, Conspiracy to Defraud the IRS and Pandemic-era Programs, Ohio 2023

A Lorain County, Ohio woman and her two adult sons have been charged with conspiring to defraud the IRS and several taxpayer-funded programs established to assist small business owners during the pandemic.

According to a press release from the Department of Justice, Kathryn A. Foltz and her sons, Matthew Foltz and Michael Foltz, were charged with conspiracy to defraud the IRS and to commit wire fraud, in connection with their scheme to obtain more than $5 million in pandemic-era relief funds.

The indictment alleges that the defendants submitted false claims to the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, seeking loans and grants under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program.

The charges were announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio. The indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on June 22, 2023.
