Kayan Frazier, Child Pornography, New Jersey 2019

CAMDEN, N.J. - A former employee of the New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency (NJDCP&P) has been charged with producing and distributing child pornography, a crime that can carry a serious prison sentence.

Kayan Frazier, a 27-year-old from Somers Point, New Jersey, was charged by complaint with one count of producing visual depictions of a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct, one count of receipt of child pornography, and one count of distribution of child pornography.

According to documents filed in the case, Frazier was identified as the sender of images of child sexual abuse distributed via the social media platform Tumblr. On April 12, 2019, a search warrant was obtained for Frazier's residence, during which law enforcement officers observed Frazier in the company of a minor and recovered thousands of images of child pornography on Frazier's cellular telephone and other electronic media.

Frazier was arrested on April 15, 2019, and charged with child endangerment, and has been detained without bail.

The charges against Frazier carry serious penalties, including a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison for producing child pornography, and a maximum potential penalty of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the FBI, Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Atlantic County Sheriff's Office, New Jersey State Police, and New Jersey Human Services Police, with the U.S. Attorney's Office representing the government in the case.

The charges against Frazier are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
