Ke-Shawn Rivers, Fentanyl Trafficking, Ohio 2026
Ke-Shawn Rivers, 46, also known as 'JayZ,' is facing a lengthy prison sentence after law enforcement uncovered multiple kilograms of narcotics in a safe in his Dayton home.
According to a superseding indictment, the Dayton man distributed fentanyl on multiple occasions between September 2025 and January 2026. This has led to the addition of three new charges against Rivers, which include possessing with the intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
The original indictment in March charged Rivers with 13 counts of distributing fentanyl, a federal crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison. These counts remain in addition to the new charges.
On March 11, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Rivers' home and seized narcotics, a firearm, and a safe. The safe contained multiple kilograms of fentanyl, cocaine, and a cutting agent, bulk amounts of cash, and an additional firearm.
Rivers now faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and up to life in prison. This is a significant increase from the potential 260 years he could have faced if convicted of all original charges.
The case is being represented by Assistant Deputy Criminal Chief Amy M. Smith. The charges were announced by Dominick S. Gerace II, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio; Jared Murphey, Acting Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Detroit; Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost; Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck; and members of the Regional Area Narcotics and Gun Enforcement Task Force (RANGE).
It is essential to note that an indictment merely contains allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Rivers is currently facing a lengthy prison sentence, with his next steps in the legal process uncertain at this time.
