Local Man Accused of Heroin Distribution

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 45-year-old man from Fayette County has admitted to heroin distribution, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.

Keith Edward Ross, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, pled guilty to one count of 'Aiding and Abetting Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin.'

Ross admitted to working with another individual to distribute heroin in March 2019 in Harrison County.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Ross faces up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000.

The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government, while the West Virginia State Police investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.

Ross's guilty plea is a significant blow to those involved in heroin distribution in the region. Heroin is a highly addictive and destructive substance that has devastating effects on families and communities.

The West Virginia State Police and the U.S. Attorney's Office are to be commended for their efforts in bringing this case to justice.

The investigation and prosecution of heroin distribution cases are crucial in combating the opioid epidemic that has gripped the nation.

Ross will be sentenced at a later date, where the court will determine his exact sentence based on the guidelines and his prior criminal history.
