Keith McNeil, Meth Conspiracy, Iowa 2020

A Nebraska man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine conspiracy in Iowa. Keith McNeil, 34, of Lincoln, Nebraska, received the prison term on August 20, 2020, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on March 20, 2020.

According to evidence presented at the guilty plea and sentencing hearings, McNeil and others conspired to distribute at least 200 grams of actual methamphetamine between May and July 2019. Law enforcement identified McNeil as one of the individuals involved in the conspiracy and seized a quarter pound of methamphetamine from a vehicle in the parking lot of the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City, Iowa, on June 12, 2019.

McNeil admitted to driving to Sioux City with another person to obtain methamphetamine through a middle-man, and he also admitted to engaging in the same conduct on June 8, 2019. McNeil was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand to 120 months' imprisonment, followed by a five-year term of supervised release.

McNeil is currently being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, a multi-agency task force based in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tri-State Drug Task Force consists of law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Sioux City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Woodbury County Sheriff's Office, South Sioux City Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Iowa National Guard, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, United States Marshals Service, and South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
