Keith Pope, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Pennsylvania 2020

A Johnstown man has been hit with a serious federal charge after a lengthy investigation by law enforcement. Keith Pope, 32, has been indicted on a single count of possession with intent to distribute quantities of a substance containing fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Pope's charge stems from an incident on October 7, 2020, in which he was found to possess with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl and heroin, as well as a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.

The indictment was brought before a federal grand jury in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and named Pope as the sole defendant. The charge carries a maximum total sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both, under the federal sentencing guidelines.

The actual sentence imposed would be based on the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant. Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the investigation leading to Pope's indictment was conducted by the FBI. The agency's efforts have led to a number of significant convictions in recent years, and this case is no exception.

Pope is currently facing serious charges that could result in significant prison time and fines.
