Keith William Davey, Jr., Distributing Child Pornography, Florida 2013

Published January 26, 2015

In a disturbing case of online exploitation, Keith William Davey, Jr. (28, Palm Bay) has been sentenced to 8 years and one month in federal prison for distributing child pornography.

According to court documents, an undercover agent working in Portland, Maine initiated contact with Davey over the Internet in November 2013.

Davey, who believed the agent was interested in child pornography, discussed trading images with the agent. On November 6, 2013, and again on November 8, 2013, Davey used the Yahoo Messenger photo sharing feature to send the agent images of child pornography, including images of prepubescent female children being sexually abused and exploited by adult males.

Law enforcement agents executed a search at Davey's Palm Bay residence and recovered his desktop computer and SD card, which contained additional images of child pornography.

Davey pleaded guilty on February 11, 2014, and was sentenced on a yet unspecified date, with the court ordering him to serve a 5-year term of supervision following his release from prison.

The court also ordered Davey to forfeit his computer equipment. This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with assistance from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

It is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
