Kellen Thomas Donelson, Child Pornography Production, Virginia 2020

A former Richmond City Public Schools elementary music teacher has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for producing images of child sexual abuse.

Kellen Thomas Donelson, 32, was arrested on December 5, 2019, after law enforcement discovered multiple images of child pornography on his personal cell phone and electronic devices.

According to court documents, Donelson admitted to producing several images and videos of child pornography, including one featuring a victim as young as 4 years old.

Donelson was employed as an elementary school music teacher with Richmond City Public Schools and an Associate Minister/Music Director at Mount Hope Baptist Church at the time of his arrest.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

U.S. Attorney G. Zachary Terwilliger and Raymond Villanueva, Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations Washington, D.C., made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge M. Hannah Lauck.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Elliker prosecuted the case.
