Kelvin Roy Thompson, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Mississippi 2024
A Jackson man has been sentenced to over 6 years in prison for his role in a local methamphetamine trafficking operation. Kelvin Roy Thompson, 61, also known as 'HOT' and 'OLD SCHOOL,' was sentenced to 75 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, for distribution of actual methamphetamine.
Thompson was found guilty of selling methamphetamine to an individual for $200 on January 19, 2018. The DEA lab confirmed the purchase to be 13.2 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride with 98% purity.
Just 12 days later, Thompson was at it again, selling another individual $425 worth of methamphetamine on January 31, 2018. The DEA lab confirmed this purchase to be 26.9 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride with 98% purity.
Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant at Thompson's residence later that day, recovering multiple bags of methamphetamine, a bag of heroin, and 3 digital scales. They also found a loaded Marlin bolt action rifle and Smith & Wesson revolver.
The case was the result of an investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Jackson Police Department, and the Ridgeland Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Keesha Middleton.
Thompson's sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement in their ongoing efforts to combat methamphetamine trafficking in the Jackson area.
