Methamphetamine Trafficking Ring Busted in Hardy County, West Virginia
ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – A major methamphetamine trafficking ring has been dismantled in Hardy County, West Virginia, after a lengthy investigation by local authorities. Kenneth Allan Evans, a 48-year-old man from Moorefield, West Virginia, was arrested today and appeared in federal court to face drug charges.
According to the indictment, Evans was charged with one count of ‘Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine,’ one count of ‘Maintaining Drug-Involved Premises,’ one count of ‘Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine,’ and one count of ‘Distribution of Methamphetamine – Aiding and Abetting.’
Evans is accused of working with several others to distribute crystal methamphetamine, also known as ‘ice,’ from August 2018 to April 2019 in Hardy County and elsewhere. The other defendants charged in the conspiracy include:
• Kaleb Joseph Beals, 31, of Silver Creek, Georgia
• Jennifer Ann Howell, 41, of Moorefield, West Virginia
• Kelly Marie Talbert, 36, of Keyser, West Virginia
• Richard Allen Howell, 42, of Moorefield, West Virginia
The investigation into the methamphetamine trafficking ring was led by the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, the West Virginia State Police, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, and the Moorefield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Kenneth Allan Evans, 48, of Moorefield, West Virginia, was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 15, 2020, on the above-mentioned charges.
At this time, no sentencing information is available for Evans or the other defendants. The case is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
