Kenneth John David Schneiders, Meth Charges, Iowa 2022

A 34-year-old Sioux City man was found guilty of distributing methamphetamine in a federal court in Sioux City.

Kenneth John David Schneiders was convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a protected location, namely the Sioux City Alternative School and Opportunities School, each located in the Boys and Girls Home in Sioux City, Iowa.

The evidence presented during the two-day trial showed that Schneiders was in communication with others regarding the sale of methamphetamine on December 2, 2019. Law enforcement was made aware of the discussions through a confidential source and ultimately located Schneiders at the Boys and Girls Home parking lot with approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine.

Schneiders faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years' imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 80 years' imprisonment, a $10,000,000 fine, and at least eight years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

Sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Schneiders was taken into custody by the United States Marshal after the verdict was returned and will remain in custody pending sentencing.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood and was investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force based in Sioux City, Iowa, which consists of law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration; Sioux City, Iowa, Police Department; Homeland Security Investigations; Woodbury County Sheriff's Office; South Sioux City, Nebraska, Police Department; Nebraska State Patrol; Iowa National Guard; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; United States Marshals Service; South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation; and Woodbury County Attorney's Office.
