Kevin Bordeaux, Meth Trafficking, South Dakota 2020
Mission Man Sentenced for Meth Trafficking
Kevin Bordeaux, a 22-year-old man from Mission, South Dakota, was sentenced to time served and supervised release for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
The sentencing occurred on December 21, 2020, in U.S. District Court, with Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange presiding over the case. Bordeaux had previously pleaded guilty to the charges on the same day.
According to court documents, Bordeaux was involved in a traffic stop in Todd County on March 3, 2020. A K9 unit was deployed at the scene, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 6.54 grams of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of Bordeaux's residence yielded several rounds of ammunition.
Bordeaux's conviction stems from the possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a federal offense. He was sentenced to serve the time he had already spent in custody, which totaled through September 3, 2021. In addition to his prison time, Bordeaux was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay a $1,000 fine, along with a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, which aims to reduce violent crime and improve public safety. The program brings together law enforcement agencies and community groups to develop effective strategies for addressing violent crime.
Bordeaux's case is also part of the Department's Project Guardian, a signature initiative aimed at reducing gun violence and enforcing federal firearms laws. The project enhances coordination among federal, state, and local authorities to investigate and prosecute gun crimes.
The case was investigated by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.
Bordeaux was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following the sentencing.
