Kevin Budianto, Child Pornography, Pennsylvania 2023
Man Caught with Hundreds of Child Pornography Images
A former intern at Roman Catholic High School has been sentenced to five years in prison for transporting and possessing child pornography. Kevin Budianto, 24, of Philadelphia, was found guilty of one count of transportation and one count of possession of child pornography.
According to court papers, Budianto was apprehended after two tips were received from Instagram, a social media platform on which he posted child pornography images. Investigators discovered that Budianto's computer contained hundreds of images and videos of child pornography depicting prepubescent children, including images of sadistic and masochistic abuse.
“The images in the defendant’s possession were horrific,” said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain. “There simply can be no tolerance or leniency for those who exploit children. In this case, and in others like it, a significant term of incarceration is appropriate and necessary.”
Budianto was sentenced to five years imprisonment and 10 years' supervised release by U.S. District Judge Gerald A. McHugh. He was also fined $25,000.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the government. The project marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, and the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle L. Morgan.
Budianto worked at Roman Catholic High School as an intern in 2013 after graduating from the school in 2012.
