Kevin Couture, Attempted Enticement of a Minor, New York 2022

Published September 26, 2023

A Chicago man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempting to entice a minor in New York.

Kevin Couture, 42, was sentenced to 144 months (12 years) in federal prison for attempting to entice and coerce a minor to engage in sexual activity.

The charges stem from an undercover operation in which Couture exchanged sexually explicit messages online with an undercover officer posing as a 9-year-old child in an attempt to entice the child to engage in sexual acts with him.

Couture admitted to traveling to a prearranged meeting location in Oneida County, New York, on February 8, 2022, with the intent to engage in sexual acts with the 9-year-old child.

He was arrested by law enforcement upon arrival at the location.

Couture will also serve a 20-year term of supervised release after he serves his term of imprisonment and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

The case was investigated by the FBI and its Child Exploitation Task Force and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Adrian S. LaRochelle as part of Project Safe Childhood.

Project Safe Childhood is a Department of Justice initiative that marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
