Kevin Ingram, Armed Robbery, Indiana 2017
A 40-year-old federal prison sentence has been handed down to Kevin Ingram, 29, for his role in four armed robberies of Indianapolis area businesses.
In a federal court in Indianapolis, United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler announced the sentencing of Kevin Ingram, following his conviction in federal court for four armed robberies of Indianapolis area businesses. U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt sentenced Ingram to 496 months (40½ years) in federal prison.
The armed robberies took place over an eight-day crime spree in October 2017, targeting four businesses, including two beauty salons and two larger retail stores. Ingram used a semi-automatic pistol in the robberies, threatening the lives of multiple women, including his pregnant girlfriend who was coerced into participating in one of the robberies.
Ingram's lengthy criminal record includes multiple violent felonies, including eight juvenile adjudications before turning 17, and several crimes committed after he turned 17, including robbing a woman at gunpoint and committing multiple offenses involving drugs and guns.
Before being apprehended in this case, Ingram fled to Houston, Texas, where he robbed several more women at knifepoint, including a pregnant woman. He still has active arrest warrants from Texas.
Ingram was convicted of robbing four Indianapolis stores at gunpoint in an eight-day crime spree in October 2017. Two of the stores were beauty salons, where Ingram stuck a semi-automatic pistol in the faces and backs of two store workers and two customers. He demanded cash and threatened to shoot if they did not comply.
Ingram will serve at least 35 years of his sentence, even with good time credit. He must also repay the $3,125 he stole during the four robberies. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
