Kevin Kaedi, Malicious Use of Explosive Materials, Nebraska 2025
A Florida man was sentenced to six years in prison for using gasoline to start his employer's semi-trailer on fire at Eppley Airfield in Omaha, Nebraska.
Kevin Kaedi, 27, was sentenced on March 14, 2025, by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., for malicious use of explosive materials. There is no parole in the federal system.
According to court documents, Kaedi, a driver for Prime Inc., a nationwide-based trucking company headquartered in Missouri, disconnected his semi-truck's tracking device on March 25, 2024, so his employer could no longer see the vehicle's movement.
He eventually parked the semi in the south cell phone parking lot of Eppley Airfield in Omaha. On March 31, 2024, Kaedi was seen on surveillance video walking into the Eppley Airfield terminal and renting a vehicle.
He then drove the rental back to the semi-truck and unloaded items from the semi-truck into his rental car. Several minutes later, smoke was seen coming from the semi-truck. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Investigators located a red plastic gas container inside the cab of the semi-truck along with an incendiary device, indicating that the fire was intentional. The amount of loss totaled $59,353.63, which Kaedi was ordered to pay as restitution.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the City of Omaha, Fire Investigation Unit.
