Kevin Myers, Possessing Child Exploitation Material, Pennsylvania 2024

Kevin Myers, a 48-year-old resident of Altoona, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to charges of violating federal sex offense laws. According to federal court records, Myers transported and possessed material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Myers pleaded guilty to Counts Two and Three of the Indictment before United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines on November 1, 2024. The images in question were produced using materials that were shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

As part of his guilty plea, Myers admitted to transporting and possessing the child exploitation material between December 2020 and December 2021. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not less than five years and up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.

Myers' sentencing is scheduled for March 4, 2025. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, according to the federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr. is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Myers.

This case was brought as a part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.
