Kevin Salguero-Chacon, Transportation of an Illegal Alien, Arizona 2026

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Kevin Salguero-Chacon, a 26-year-old citizen of Guatemala, was charged with Transportation of an Illegal Alien on February 19, 2026. An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper observed Salguero-Chacon driving on I-10 westbound, with several individuals dressed in camouflage lying in the vehicle's rear cargo area. Border Patrol agents arrived and observed seven passengers inside the vehicle, including two juveniles, who are citizens of Mexico and unlawfully present in the United States.

The case, United States v. Kevin Salguero-Chacon (26-8062MJ), is one of 179 immigration-related cases brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona during the week of enforcement operations from February 14 through February 20, 2026.

The U.S. Attorney's Office charged 112 individuals with illegally re-entering the United States and 53 with illegally entering the country. An additional 14 individuals were charged with smuggling illegal aliens into and within the District of Arizona. These cases were referred or supported by federal law enforcement partners, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE-ERO), ICE-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Sheriff's deputies observed Salguero-Chacon driving on I-10 westbound, with several individuals dressed in camouflage lying in the vehicle's rear cargo area. Border Patrol agents arrived and observed seven passengers inside the vehicle, including two juveniles, who are citizens of Mexico and unlawfully present in the United States.

Sheriff's deputies conducted a vehicle registration check, which confirmed that the car's registration was expired. They initiated a traffic stop and observed Salguero-Chacon in the driver's seat. The seven passengers were later identified as unlawfully present in the United States.
