Elmira Man Sentenced to Life for Methamphetamine Trafficking

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK – In a recent guilty plea, Kevin Walker, 32, of Elmira, New York, admitted to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

According to court documents, on February 12, 2022, Walker drove a rental vehicle from his residence in Elmira to Cortland, New York. He intended to meet another individual in the parking lot of a Cortland business to sell to that individual 447 grams of pure methamphetamine, which Walker had in the trunk of the vehicle. Walker further admitted that he also possessed 137 grams of cocaine in the vehicle.

The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police and DEA with assistance from the Elmira Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew J. McCrobie is prosecuting the case.

At sentencing, scheduled for June 21, 2023, Walker faces at least 10 years and up to life in federal prison, a maximum fine of $10,000,000, and a term of post-imprisonment supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life.

A defendant's sentence is imposed by a judge based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.
