Bank Fraud Rocks Hampshire County

A shocking case of bank fraud has left the people of Hampshire County stunned as former loan officer Kimberly Haslacker, 39, of Romney, West Virginia, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for her crimes.

Kimberly Haslacker, formerly employed as a loan officer at The Bank of Romney, used her position to submit false and fraudulent loan applications in her own name and in the names of friends and relatives. This devious scheme allowed her to obtain nearly $170,000 in unlawful loan proceeds.

The sentencing took place on no specific date mentioned in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Camilletti prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the inquiry into the bank fraud scheme.

Haslacker pleaded guilty in May 2015 to a single count of bank fraud. The charges were brought against her in a criminal information filed in federal court.
