Konrad P. Wolff, Possessing Child Pornography, California 2015
A shocking indictment has been handed down against a former Albany resident, Konrad P. Wolff, 27, for possessing child pornography in California.
According to the indictment, Wolff knowingly possessed video and image files depicting minor and prepubescent children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
The indictment was filed on December 18, 2014, in the Northern District of California, and Wolff was arrested on January 8, 2015, at Ft. Benning, Georgia.
Wolff's initial appearance in federal court in Columbus, Ga., took place the same day as his arrest, January 8, 2015. He has since been remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service and will be returned to the Northern District of California to answer the indictment.
Wolff faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, for his alleged violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(4)(B), if convicted. However, any sentence following conviction would be imposed by the court after consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of a sentence, 18 U.S.C. § 3553.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott D. Joiner is prosecuting the case with the assistance of Patricia Mahoney. The prosecution is the result of an investigation by the FBI and the University of California, Berkeley, Police Department.
An indictment merely alleges that crimes have been committed, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
