Kyle Mullings, Murder in Aid of Racketeering, New York 2015

A 26-year-old Bronx man has been charged with murder in aid of racketeering in connection with the 2015 murder of Daquan Cooper in the Parkchester neighborhood of the Bronx.

Kyle Mullings, a member or associate of a racketeering enterprise known as the Beach Avenue Crew, is accused of orchestrating the murder and providing the firearms that others used to shoot and kill Cooper on June 25, 2015.

Mullings is also charged with murder through the use of a firearm, which carries a maximum sentence of death or life in prison, and a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison.

The charges against Mullings were announced by Acting United States Attorney Audrey Strauss, Commissioner of the New York City Police Department Dermot Shea, Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations Peter C. Fitzhugh, and Special Agent in Charge of the New York Division of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Raymond Donovan.

Mullings is currently in federal custody on other charges, and will be presented at a later date.

The case is being handled by the Office's Violent and Organized Crime Unit. Assistant United States Attorneys Maurene Comey, Jacob Warren, and Andrew K. Chan are in charge of the prosecution.

The charges contained in the Superseding Indictment are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Mullings' exact sentence or outcome has not been announced, but he faces a maximum sentence of death or life in prison, and a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison for the murder in aid of racketeering charge.
