Kyle Thomsen, Arson of Property In Interstate Commerce, Louisiana 2026

A New Orleans man has been charged with arson of property used in interstate commerce, according to a recent indictment.

Kyle Thomsen, a resident of New Orleans, was indicted on March 19, 2026, for violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 844(i), announced U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle.

The indictment alleges that on or about January 19, 2026, in the Eastern District of Louisiana, Thomsen damaged and destroyed by means of fire a vehicle used by a commercial business in interstate commerce.

Thomsen faces from five to twenty years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the federal government to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.

The case is a part of the NOLA Safe initiative and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the New Orleans Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brittany Reed of the Violent Crime Unit.

U.S. Attorney Courcelle reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
