LaRobert Kadarius Hollins, Gun Charges, Mississippi 2019
A Moss Point man has landed himself in hot water after being caught with a firearm while under the influence of marijuana. LaRobert Kadarius Hollins, 19, of Moss Point, pled guilty to possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance.
The illicit activity occurred on February 8, 2019, when Hollins was pulled over by the South Mississippi Metropolitan Enforcement Team for making an illegal turn. During the stop, officers discovered a bag of marijuana in Hollins' pocket and a loaded 9mm pistol under the seat of the vehicle.
Hollins confessed to agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that he regularly smoked marijuana and that the gun belonged to him.
The South Mississippi Metropolitan Enforcement Team and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams.
Hollins will be sentenced by Judge Sul Ozerden on November 25, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. The maximum penalty he faces is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
