Pittsburgh Man Gets 5 Years for Gun in Drug Deal

A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for using a gun during a drug deal.

Larry Christopher Roberts, 48, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was convicted of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song.

The crime occurred on June 4, 2015, when Roberts possessed a firearm in furtherance of his distribution and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentence on Roberts, who will also serve five years of supervised release after his prison term.

Assistant United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office for conducting the investigation that led to the successful prosecution of Roberts.

This case is being prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and communities to prevent, deter, and prosecute gun crimes.
