Larry D. Brodie, Jr., Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, New York 2019
A Lackawanna man has pleaded guilty to possessing fentanyl while on supervised release. Larry D. Brodie, Jr., 38, of Lackawanna, NY, admitted to the charge before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara on
April 4, 2019, a Lackawanna Police undercover officer contacted the defendant to arrange for a controlled purchase of heroin. Brodie then met with and sold the undercover officer approximately $100 of suspected heroin and $40 worth of crack cocaine. This was during a time when he was on supervised release for a 2001 federal drug conviction. The maximum penalty for this charge is 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin L. Bish handled the case. He stated that the Lackawanna Police Department, under the direction of Chief James Michel, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan, conducted the investigation.
Brodie's guilty plea comes as a result of an investigation into his involvement with fentanyl. The investigation was conducted by the Lackawanna Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The charge of possession with intent to distribute butyryl fentanyl carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000.
The defendant's sentencing is scheduled for a later date. The outcome of the case will be determined by the court. The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin L. Bish.
