Larry Garrow, Jr., Burglary, Vermont 2024
Local Man Sentenced for Burglary of Hardwick Gun Store
Larry Garrow, Jr., a 27-year-old resident of Richford, Vermont, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for possession of stolen firearms on Friday, as reported by the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont.
The crime occurred on April 19, 2014, when Garrow stole 32 firearms from Rite Way Sports Shop in Hardwick, Vermont. The stolen firearms consisted of .380 caliber and 9 mm handguns. Garrow stipulated in his plea agreement with the government that he provided approximately 20 of the firearms to another individual shortly after the burglary. Unfortunately, these firearms have not been recovered.
On April 23, 2014, Garrow's father located nine handguns and two pellet guns in the defendant's bedroom and turned them over to the Vermont State Police. The serial numbers on the recovered handguns matched those reported stolen by Rite Way Sports Shop, confirming the connection to the burglary. Garrow was arrested the same day and charged with stealing firearms from a federally-licensed firearms dealer.
The Office of the United States Attorney commended the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the United States Border Patrol, the Vermont State Police, and the Hardwick Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Doyle represented the United States in this case, while Jordana M. Levine, Esq. of the Marsicovetere Law Group, P.C. represented Garrow.
Garrow was ordered to pay $8,000 in restitution to Rite Way Sports Shop and serve a three-year period of supervised release following his term of imprisonment. He has been in custody since his arrest and will now serve 30 months for possession of stolen firearms.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of law enforcement cooperation in preventing and investigating crimes. The recovery of stolen firearms and the successful prosecution of those responsible are crucial steps in keeping our communities safe.
