Child Predator Sentenced to 11 Years in Federal Prison

A Diamond, Missouri man was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison without parole for receiving child pornography. Larry James Lyle, 70, was found guilty of receiving images and videos of child pornography on his laptop computer.

Lyle admitted to investigators that he communicated with underage minor females and received nude images of minors. He was identified by law enforcement agents during an investigation into the enticement of a 14-year-old victim in Ohio.

According to court documents, Lyle met the victim through an online game and communicated with her through a messaging app and email. The victim's parents located messages between Lyle and their daughter, which were sexual in nature.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Department of Justice marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children.

Larry James Lyle will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison and will be subject to federal and state sex offender registration requirements. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller and investigated by the FBI and the Southwest Missouri Cybercrimes Task Force.

Project Safe Childhood is a critical initiative to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse. We urge parents and guardians to educate themselves and their children about online safety and the dangers of child predators.
