Larry Ray Denny, Jr., Domestic Assault by Habitual Offender, Montana 2017
GREAT FALLS, Mont. - A judge on Wednesday sentenced a Box Elder man to eight months in prison and three years of supervised release in the assault of his domestic partner on the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation.
Larry Ray Denny, Jr., 46, pleaded guilty in January to domestic assault by habitual offender.
The assault occurred on Oct. 15, 2017. The victim told law enforcement that Denny had hit her. The victim had swelling on an eye, blood on her forehead and red marks on her neck.
Denny had two prior domestic assault convictions. U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided over the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cassady Adams and Ryan Weldon prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the FBI and Chippewa Cree Law Enforcement.
The investigation revealed that Denny's history of domestic violence put his partner in harm's way. The judge's decision to sentence Denny to prison reflects the severity of his crimes.
The case is a reminder that domestic violence is a serious crime that will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
