Lavon C. Lashley, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Previously Convicted Felon, Illinois 2013

A Missouri man has been sentenced for unlawful possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon in Illinois. Lavon C. Lashley, 36, from St. Louis, MO, was sentenced on January 15, 2013, in District Court in East St. Louis, IL, on one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Previously Convicted Felon.

The investigation revealed that Lashley was in possession of a firearm, which was recovered during a pat-down search stemming from an incident on a Metro Link passenger train leading to his arrest. Lashley had previously pled guilty and admitted that the firearm belonged to him. He also admitted that he had possessed a gun, knowing that he was a convicted felon and that it was illegal for him to have a gun.

Lashley was sentenced to 87 months in prison, three years of supervised release, fined $375, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. He was also required to forfeit the firearm. Prior to June 5, 2012, Lashley had been convicted of a crime that was punishable by a term of imprisonment of more than one year.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Matthew H. Brooks.
