Published July 14, 2015

A disturbing incident of reckless driving resulted in a serious injury on the Wind River Indian Reservation, and now a local man is facing the consequences.

Lee Spoonhunter, a 36-year-old Northern Arapaho man, was sentenced to three years of probation, with the first four months to be served on home confinement, a $100 special assessment, and a full restitution amount to be determined within 90 days.

The sentence stems from Spoonhunter's conduct on November 2012, during which he drove while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in a traffic crash that left another person with serious bodily injury.

U.S. Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who worked together to bring Spoonhunter to justice.

The consequences of Spoonhunter's actions are severe, and it serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence.

The Wind River Indian Reservation is a tight-knit community, and this incident has left many shaken.

The sentence imposed on Spoonhunter is a step in the right direction towards healing and justice for all parties involved.
